PowerBuilder 12 除了你以往所熟知以及喜愛的 PowerBuilder 之外，又新增了很多的東西。

 

It now has two Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) in one box. The first is the familiar “Classic” IDE for creating Win32 applications that can be deployed as Desktop .NET Web Form, and .NET Windows Forms applications. And, it can also deploy PowerBuilder Nonvisual Objects (NVOs) as .NET Web Services.

現在 PowerBuilder 12 提供兩種開發整合的環境。第一種是大家所熟悉的傳統 IDE 開發環境，可以用來開發 Win32 的應用程式，佈署到每一個人的電腦上或是 .NET Web Form 以及 .NET Windows Forms 的應用程式。另外，也可以將 PowerBuilder 的 NVO (非視覺化物件) 轉換成 .NET Web 服務元件。

 

The second is the new .NET IDE, which is built on top of the Visual Studio Isolated Shell. This new IDE is not a plug-in for Visual Studio. Rather, Visual Studio is built

right into PowerBuilder, integrating the best of PowerBuilder and Visual Studio into one IDE. In the new IDE, developers can create new Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) applications, deploy NVOs as .NET Assemblies, and they can

even migrate existing Win32 code to WPF. No other vendor provides this migration path, making your investment in PowerBuilder code and skills more valuable than ever. PowerBuilder developers now have the best of both worlds;

they have a rich development environment with enhanced functionality for building and debugging applications, direct access to the .NET Framework, and options to customize Visual Studio and traditional PowerBuilder IDE layout

properties, support options, and look and feel. Best of all, coding is still done in PowerScript, there’s no need to learn C#.

第二種是全新的 .NET IDE 開發整合環境，這是一個架構在 Visual Studio Isolated Shell 上面。這一個新的介面並不是將 Visual Studio plug-in 到 PowerBuilder 的開發環境，而是將 PowerBuilder 的開發環境與 Visual Studio 的

環境完全整合到同一個 IDE 的開發環境。在新的 IDE 開發環境，程式開發人員可以建立一個 WPF 的應用程式，將 PowerBuilder 的 NVI(非視覺化物件)佈署成 .NET 的元件。甚至於可以直接將 Wind32 的應用程式直接轉壞成 WPF 的應用程式。目前並沒有一家廠商可以做到這樣完全的程式轉換。這可以讓你過去所投資在 PowerBuilder 上的開發經驗與技術更顯得有價值，現在 PowerBuilder 的開發人員擁有全世界最棒的開發工具。因為他們擁有功能非常多的開發環境建立或是找出應用程式的問題，另外也可以直接使用 .NET 的架構或是使用Visual Studio 以及傳統的 PowerBuilder IDE 介面。可以不需要學習 C# 的語言，繼續延用熟悉的 PowerScript 語言。
